QUICK! Don’t miss funding for NSSO 2019

Funding for young musicians

The FUTURE TALENT fund is open for 2018/19 applications for its Young Musicians Development Programme. The deadline for completed applications is at 12pm on Monday 11 June 2018!

Future Talent’s Young Musicians Development Programme offers financial support and development opportunities to young musicians; instrumentalists and singers from ANY genre of music, based anywhere in the UK, from challenging circumstances. This is typically families who have a household income of £30,500 per year, or less, before tax (incl. benefits). Any young musicians on free school dinners would also be eligible for one of their Awards.

Financial support, between £200 and £3,000, can be used on anything that will help nurture a young musician’s talent. For example, funds can be used for lessons, a new instrument or case, courses, instrument maintenance or sheet music.

Attendance at the 2019 NSSO course (14-21 July) could be eligible for funding. As a member of NSSO, your place on the 2019 course is assured, and our 25th anniversary concerts will be at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Further details about the Young Musicians Development Programme and how to apply can be found on their website: futuretalent.org. You can download application guidelines, application form and financial declaration.

Although the deadline for applications is Monday 11 June, as long as you have registered an interest by that date, submitting a partially completed application form, you can have a few more days to complete your application. The recordings required can be done quite simply – your smart phone device will suffice! They encourage you to be open in making financial declarations and to mention any extenuating circumstances quite freely. The process is entirely confidential.

NSSO is not involved with Future Talent in any way. Information about this funding opportunity was only received at Malvern this week and we thought we should forward it to all players on this year’s course. If you receive an award from Future Talent they will settle the NSSO 2019 course fee invoice directly.

We hope that this might be helpful and wish you well with your application!
