For more than 25 years, the National Schools Symphony Orchestra has provided an intensive high-quality orchestral experience for young players aged 9-19. This year, in the face of extraordinary circumstances, we are expanding our activities online to offer all our members the chance to take part in a new experience.
With help from our partners PartPlay and Goodmusic, members of our three orchestras are able to take part in a performance of Sunrise from Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Stauss. Known best from the opening of the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
At present, our members are busy learning, rehearsing and recording the piece, which they will send to us to be used in the final mix. Which will be published online for everyone to enjoy by the end of April.
This project is marking the start of a new chapter in the life of NSSO, and we hope Project Sunrise will bring a little light in these dark, challenging times.
We look forward with excitement as we continue to make music.
