New for 2021!

11th July – 18th July 2021

NSSO Big Band is a brand-new educational initiative for 2021, introducing aspiring young jazz musicians to a wide variety of Big Band arrangements.

Through small combos, big band sessions, workshops and masterclasses, members will develop their reading and improvisation skills throughout the week, as well as having a lot of fun!

Each section of the band will have a resident tutor, a specialist in their own field, and NSSO is proud to be welcoming some of the UK’s top jazz musicians to join our excellent team of tutors.

The line up for the band offers individual opportunities to alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, trumpet, and trombone players with a rhythm section of piano, keyboard, electric guitar, bass, and kit/percussion.

There will be a maximum of 20 players in the Big Band and applications are invited from musicians of secondary school age.
