Hello NSSO Philharmonic members 2021.
I’m thrilled that this year we can, after all, meet in person to make music at Malvern College. It will be a pleasure to see again those of you who have been on the course in previous years, and it will also be a great pleasure meeting the many new members who have already signed up and who continue to do so.
It seems appropriate that our programme this year should include a fanfare (Dukas La Peri) to herald live music-making once more. Charles Ives’ Unanswered Question makes a great foil for this. I’m particularly looking forward to conducting two Russian masterworks – Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet and Stravinsky’s Firebird – both great personal favourites.
Meantime don’t forget our Refer-a-Friend scheme. We’ve still got some spaces for string players, (especially double basses), horns and trombones.
I look forward to seeing you in July!
